Best Vampire Romance Books Ever for Adults
78
Introduction
There has been much debate over the psychology behind the love of vampires, whether it be they are "forbidden," the danger or the bite. Regardless, I can't get enough of them and love reading about them among other paranormal romance books. If you love reading urban fantasy, vampire romance and other paranormal romance books, then these books are a must-read, in my opinion. This is a completely opinion-derived article, based on my personal preference of vampire romance books that I have come across and read. This is my review of the best vampire romance books ever. You can also check out my new hub, Best Vampire Romance Books Ever for Young Adults to find other paranormal romances that are targeted at the young adult reader population.
Sookie Stackhouse Southern Vampire Series by Charlaine Harris
This is my all-time favorite series of vampire romance books EVER. The hit series True Blood on HBO is based on these books. Small-town waitress, Sookie Stackhouse is a telepath who has had a hard time being accepted by those around her. Everyone thinks she is "crazy" or worse, psychic. The vampires have just "come out of the coffin," and Sookie gets tangled into the lives and politics of things that go bump in the night. There is also a famous vampire floating around, which explains many after-death sightings.

I was very pleasantly surprised by the Chicagoland Vampires. I was trying to decide what to read next, and after seeing a review stating Charlaine Harris fans would love this series (My favorite series and show), I decided to give it a try. While the synopsis looked decent, nothing had stood out enough to really knock it to the top of my 300+ to-read list. I was very pleasantly surprised by the lack of constant vampire sex, and the historical romance references (Think Pride and Prejudice). Very well written with some witty humor. Many books have the best friend of the heroine to be annoying, but Mallory was really cool. Now I am off to divulge in the second in the series.

Night Huntress Series by Jeaniene Frost
I came across these books as recommended to fill my vampire romance withdrawal while waiting for the next Sookie book to come out. I absolutely loved this series. This series is about Cat, who is a half-vampire and has a vendetta against vampires as she tries to find the one who impregnated her mother p-[ce on supernatural crimes in between raising dead and hunting down vampires who break the law. This is an amazing series that keeps building over time. Jeaniene Frost has also released a Night Huntress World spin-off series that is worth checking out while waiting for your next Cat and Bones fix!

Cassandra Palmer series by Karen Chance
Cassandra Palmer is a clairvoyant who was raised by a vampire that killed her
parents, but she finally got away. Now Cassise is on the run and must seek the
help of the vampire Senate for her safety. The war mage Pritkin doesn’t make
her life any easier either. There is a hot and steamy love triangle in the mix as well. There are a lot of famous historical names in this
series, which I found interesting and fun. This series definitely deserves a
read. The latest installment "Hunt the Moon" is due to be out in June, 2011!

Anita Blake series by Laurell K. Hamilton
Anita Blake is a licensed necromancer and vampire executioner. She is so good at her job, that she is known and feared among many vampires. Anita also contracts with the police on supernatural crimes in between raising dead and hunting down vampires who break the law. This is an amazing series that keeps building over time, with multiple love interests. I have yet to finish the series but love what I have read so far and look forward to reading Laurell K. Hamilton’s other paranormal romance books.
Argeneau Vampire Series by Lynsay Sands
Lynsay Sands has become popular for her hot and steamy vampire romance series, the Argeneau Vampires. There is a new series spin-off, called the Rogue Hunter. Each book in this series is about a different Argeneau, so you do not necessarily have to read them in order. Some characters are mentioned in other books, but their roles are minor. These books weigh more heavily on the romance and less on any "horror" aspect of vampires. They are definitely fun and light reads to sate your vampire romance hunger!
Black Dagger Brotherhood by J.R. Ward
Like the Argeneau Vampires series, the Black Dagger Brotherhood series by J.R. Ward is another staple in the vampire romance books genre. The series takes place in Caldwell, New York. The Black Dagger Brotherhood is a band of vampire warriors that dedicate their lives to fighting slayers. Each novel is about one of the Brothers so, again, this does not necessarily have to be read in order.

I love all you picks but have to say Lynsay Sands Argeneau/Rogue huntre series has to be the best I read so far keep up the list as it give us all something new to read :):)
I almost disregarded this list completely when I read that the Twilight series made it. The series is so poorly written and is actually an insult to writers.
And, I can't believe Anne Rice's vampire books were left off your list.
I will give you credit for the Anita Blake series, though. This list gets 1 out of 5 stars.
Great list, though I didn't find a real connection with the Sookie Stackhouse series. I love the show, but found the novels to be somewhat too simple...if that makes sense? The Black Dagger Brotherhood I heard was very very good. I'll have to check out the others you've mentioned. I voted up and awesome.
Kresely Cole, rocks! Immortals after Dark series is the best out of all of them!
what about the black dagger brotherhood books by J r Ward? and the Dark Hunter series by Sherilyn Kenyon? both of these series blow the ones you listed out of the water!!
J. R. Ward's "The Black Dagger Brotherhood" series is amazing!
Nice list! I'm a fan of the Southern Vampire series too, but was wondering if you'd consider adding J.R. Ward's Black Dagger Brotherhood series, and Sherilynn Kenyon's Dark Hunter series to your list too!
I like Midnight Breed series by Lara Adrian
black dagger brotherhood series
jr ward brotherhood
The black daffier brotherhood is by far my favourite vampire series but I also enjoyed Lynsay Sands series. Since I am waiting for the BDB book to come out I started reading Kerrelyn Sparks vampire series and I really liked it as well. Mostly because there are Scottish vamps and I married Scottsman. I hope I have some new readers a few new choices :) Enjoy
Black Dagger Brotherhood is number one on my list. The brothers are amazing
Authors, Christine Feehan and Christine Warren, read and enjoy, enough said.
Great List. Read most of them and some never heard from. Checking them out but. But I must say my all time favorite vampire series is Lyndsay Sands read them all.
also a good series to read is Kerrylin Sparks Love at Stake series, loved them!
